EBCC Christmas Hampers For Community Members in Need

It’s already November and before you know it, it’ll be Christmas!

Spread the Christmas cheer by referring a community member in need who may benefit from a Christmas hamper packed and delivered by Team EBCC.

Whether they are struggling financially or socially isolated, a Christmas hamper filled with goodies (provided by EBCC) may have the power to lift someone’s spirits and help them get by during this festive season.

An Introduction to Observational Sketching with Murry

Our last workshop of 2023 was ‘An Introduction to Observational Sketching with Murry’ and was held on Saturday!

Murry taught us about the main principles of quick sketching and how we can use this skill whenever and wherever, as long as there is paper and a pencil!

We had such a fun time sketching each other – plenty of laughs and some truly creative results

If you missed out, don’t stress, we will hold similar workshops next year! Keep an eye out for updates.

Beginner-friendly Lessons: Learn to Speak Spanish

We’ve only got a couple months left of this year, why not start learning a new language?

Join us for ‘Spanish Lessons for Beginners’ this Thursday 5th October, 6pm-7:30pm. If you haven’t attended any of Liza’s previous classes don’t stress, we will be revisiting what we have learnt during this session so you won’t be left behind!

Upcoming lessons in 2023:

  • Thursday 19th October, 6pm-7:30pm
  • Thursday 2nd November, 6pm-7:30pm
  • Thursday 16th November, 6pm-7:30pm (LAST LESSON OF THE YEAR)

Hand Stitching For Beginners with Linda

We had such a beautiful evening last Thursday during our ‘Hand Stitching for Beginners’ workshop led by the creative Linda!

Our community members learnt the basics of hand stitching for practical purposes, such as how to hand-sew a hem and how to sew on a button.

Hand stitching is definitely a valuable skill to learn at any age – you can mend and alter your own clothing instead of paying someone else to do it for you.

We will definitely have more sewing workshops with Linda next year!

Vegan Cheese Workshop & Lunch with Nat

Last Saturday we held a Vegan Cheese Workshop & Lunch which was run by the best (unofficial) vegan cheese maker, Nat!

Nat showed us how to make some amazing plant-based cheeses – from cream cheese to cheddar and mozzarella!

We were able to enjoy the cheeses with some crackers, fresh bread and fruit, all whilst Nat demonstrated to the class. It was quite the tasty learning experience!

We are extremely appreciative of Nat’s efforts in creating such a fun and interactive workshop.

Sewing Basics with Linda

We wrapped up our final ‘Sewing Basics with Linda’ session last Thursday evening with plenty of smiles and creativity!

We sewed baby bibs in celebration of one special community member expecting soon.

We would like to thank Linda for her guidance, resources and encouragement that she provided us with throughout these workshops. We all have become confident at sewing because of these lessons!

Miniature Japanese Garden Workshop with Mikiko

Last Saturday we held yet another beautiful workshop led by the lovely Mikiko!

Mikiko provided us with all the materials and guidance we needed to create our very own miniature Japanese garden.

The miniature gardens created were all different due to each person’s unique taste and style! Following the workshop, we indulged in authentic matcha tea paired with some tasty Japanese sweets.

We would like to thank Mikiko for such a fun and creative workshop!

Crochet Class with Anna

This past Saturday we had our first Crotchet Class with Anna!

We had a lovely time learning how to crotchet and it was nice to meet new people at the workshop. Anna was kind enough to provide all our attendees with crotchet starter kits to keep.

By the end of the workshop we were all very motivated and inspired to get started on our own personal crotchet projects.

An Introduction to Observational Sketching with Murry

Last Saturday we had an amazing workshop led by Murry on observational sketching!

We had so much fun learning tips and tricks on how to quickly sketch subjects from our daily lives. We also attempted to draw one another at the end of the session which was challenging yet enjoyable.

Team EBCC would like to thank Murry for running such a great workshop for our community members!

For those who missed out, don’t worry we will definitely have future drawing/sketching workshops available at the centre!

Vegan Cooking Class & Lunch

Last Saturday we had an absolute feast during our Vegan Cooking Class!

We kicked things off with Lemon Potatoes (gone before we could take a photo!), then made Dolmades, Spanakopita, and of course, Baklava — the crowd favourite!

We would like to thank Mike and Roxie for teaching us how to make classic Greek dishes with a vegan spin to them!

Kokedama Workshop with Mikiko

Last weekend we held yet another awesome workshop — this time on the artistic practice of creating Kokedama.

We are super grateful to have had Mikiko run the session and teach our community members two unique styles.

Everyone left with beautiful handmade Kokedama creations and a newfound appreciation for this peaceful Japanese art.

Wood Carving with Theresa Darmody

We had another fantastic workshop at EBCC last Saturday!

A huge thank you to Theresa Darmody for guiding everyone through the art of wood carving. Our participants loved learning new techniques, discovering the calming rhythm of carving, and watching their projects come to life. It was a creative and relaxing day filled with laughter, focus, and the satisfaction of making something by hand. Everyone left with beautiful, handcrafted spoons and a real sense of accomplishment and connection.

Everyday Makeup with Meghan Clare

We had a fabulous time at EBCC last Saturday with the incredibly talented Meghan Clare, who led a fun and inspiring makeup workshop for our community members!

Participants learned practical tips on enhancing their natural features, choosing the right products, and creating looks that suit their personal style. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, colour, and confidence as everyone practiced new techniques and shared stories along the way.

We can’t wait to welcome Meghan back for more beauty sessions soon!
